We are Gustavo and Alana! We met back in college, but only started dating almost a decade later thanks to a casual DM on Instagram. We’ve always loved traveling, camping, trying new foods, and connecting with different people and cultures. In 2024, we took a gap year from corporate life and traveled through Africa, Asia and Europe with just a backpack and a dream: to change our lives. Today, we live in Ilhabela, a paradisiacal island full of beaches and waterfalls, just 4 hours away from São Paulo.
Our Idea!
After exploring several countries and cultures, we came to a firm conclusion: Brazil is a wonderfully unique country, yet it's largely underexplored by foreign tourists. That's why we created Unlocking Brazil! Our goal is to show you the country from a local's perspective, providing information and tips based only on our firsthand experiences and travels. That is why we can guarantee that everything you read here is 100% our sincere and honest opinion.
Travel Consulting
Our travel consulting service is how we help travelers who need a little extra support figuring out where to go, what to do, and most importantly, how to avoid tourist traps. Our work is entirely personalized based on your travel style, budget, and specific needs.
We are not, and do not intend to be, a travel agency. We want to help you plan and execute your trip to Brazil with safety and, above all, authenticity. Our goal is to show you what you wouldn’t find on your own, guided by the local perspective of someone born and raised in Brazil.
