We are passionate about sports, and running is definitely one of our favorites. I’ve been running for over 20 years, completed several marathons, and truly consider running my best form of mental therapy. Alana started running after we met over 5 years ago and has already conquered a half-marathon. During our gap year traveling around the world, running was our best ally to truly get to know the places we visited. I’m sure this post will help you discover São Paulo in the same way. So, don’t forget to pack your running shoes! You’ll be surprised by the incredible running spots our city has to offer.
Ibirapuera Park
Lap Size: 3-4km
Best Training Option: Everything (Easy Run, Intervals, Long Run)
How to get there: Uber/Taxi is the best choice since there is no metro station in the immediate vicinity. My favorite place to enter is Gate 7.
In my opinion, Ibirapuera Park is the best place to run in the city. The location is excellent, the asphalt is perfect, and the massive trees provide plenty of shade on sunny days. The park is impeccably maintained with clean restrooms, shops, and restaurants. In the morning, it’s buzzing with runners of all levels and many local running clubs.

Local Tip: It gets very crowded on weekends. Arrive early to enjoy a smooth run without having to dodge the crowds.
Villa-Lobos Park

Lap Size: 3-4km
Best Training Option: Everything (Easy Run, Intervals, Long Run)
How to get there: go to Villa-Lobos Jaguaré Train Station and walk 200m.
Conceived in 1987 to celebrate the centenary of the famous Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos, this is one of São Paulo's most iconic parks. The running track was recently renovated, making it perfect for long-distance or intervals training. It offers great infrastructure, including snack bars, tennis courts, and even a Ferris wheel. This is an excellent option if you are staying in the West Zone, near Pinheiros or Vila Madalena.
São Paulo University Campus (USP)
Lap Size: 6-10km
Best Training Option: Long Run
How to get there: go to Butantã Metro Station and walk or run 1km to USP Gate 1.
USP is located in a beautiful, tree-lined campus. While you can run there during the week, Saturday is when most local runners head there for their weekly long run. The campus is massive and stays open specifically for sports like running and cycling. It's a unique experience to run past the buildings of the best university in Latin America.
Note: The campus is closed to external visitors on Sundays.

Parque do Povo
Lap Size: 1,4km.
Best Training Option: Everything (Easy Run, Intervals, Long Run)
How to get there: go to Cidade Jardim Train Station and walk 300m.
Located in the heart of the financial district (Faria Lima), this park is ideal for business travelers. I used to run here all the time when I worked in the area. While smaller than Ibirapuera, the track is high-quality and suitable for any type of workout. It’s a great option if you're staying in the corporate heart of the city.

Aclimação Park
Lap Size: 1,1km
Best Training Option: Easy Runs
How to get there: go to Ana Rosa Metro Station and walk 1,1km to Gate 3.
I’ve run countless times at Aclimação and have a strong emotional connection to it. However, I’d say it’s only worth it if you’re staying nearby or want to explore a new neighborhood. The loop is small, and it can feel a bit crowded at times. That said, it’s a charming spot and worth adding to your list if you want a cozy, local vibe.

Mercado Livre Pacaembu Stadium
Lap Size: 400m
Best Training Option: Sprints & Intervals
How to get there: go to Clínicas Metro Station and walk to Gate 23 at Rua Capivari.
The Pacaembu complex is one of the city’s best-kept secrets. Recently, Mercado Livre acquired the naming rights and invested heavily in renovating the facilities. You can enter for free and use the professional athletics track around the football pitch—perfect for sprint training.
Check the schedule beforehand, as access is closed during match days or concerts.

Horto Florestal
Lap Size: 3km.
Best Training Option: Easy Run.
How to get there: go to Tucuruvi Metro Station and grab a 15min Uber to the Gate 1 or 2.
Horto is an incredible hidden gem in the Far North of the city. Because it's a bit further out, it's less frequented by tourists. The loop is stunning, filled with ancient trees and lakes. If you're feeling adventurous, I highly recommend the hike up to Pedra Grande (Big Rock),one of the city's most famous viewpoints. It’s a 40-minute climb on a paved road, and the view is absolutely worth it.
I hope you have some great workouts and enjoy discovering São Paulo the best way possible: running!
